LIHEAP application deadline extended to April 26
If you need help paying home heating bills and meet household income limits, you now have until April 26 to apply for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, commonly known as LIHEAP.
The application deadline for this federally funded program had been March 29, but now you have an extra month to seek a cash grant. The program helps low-income households pay for regular home heating fuel and utility bills – and awards crisis grants, which assist with heating emergencies such as a furnace failure, unexpected fuel shortages, or utility terminations.
You’ll have to meet annual household income limits, which range from $16,755 for one person to $58,335 for eight people.
Applicants can apply for a LIHEAP grant online at www.compass.state.pa.us. LIHEAP applications are also available at the Philadelphia County Assistance Office at , PECO and community service agencies, such as the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging.
